Sensitive Teeth?

What to do, home remedies, and professional help with your dentist.

Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly to remove plaque and bacteria that can cause inflammation and irritation in your tooth's nerves.

Be mindful of your diet, especially with regards to sugar consumption, as it can lead to tooth decay, that will trigger sensitivity.

Always use a soft toothbrush. A hard toothbrush can be very aggressive and damage your teeth, leading to sensitivity.

Replace your toothbrush every 3 months.

Don’t use a whitening toothpaste, it might aggravate your teeth sensitivity.

Avoid acidic foods and drinks such as citrus fruits, sports drinks, and energy drinks as they can erode your tooth's enamel making them more sensitive.

It's important to keep in mind that unlike other parts of the body, teeth do not heal on their own. If left untreated, a sensitive tooth might develop to more severe issues such as tooth and gums infection, and even tooth loss.

If your tooth sensitivity persists despite your best efforts, it's important to visit your dentist. They can help diagnose the underlying cause of your sensitivity, and provide you with the appropriate treatment when needed.

Some possible causes are:

Exposed roots caused by over-aggressive brushing.

Cracked tooth caused by cavity or large fillings.

Tooth decay caused by a diet high in sugar.

Gum disease caused by poor oral hygiene.

Teeth grinding caused by stress or sleep disorder
